7. Where can the heroic motivation be most effectively redeemed?
Be the PCs first:
Encounter: infiltration
Place: Orc Hills Cavern, Northern Wilds, a little later
To find a way out of the cave, Gino taps away at the floor and sides of the cave, and then picks a spot for Don Pantaloni to use his Magic Missiles to force-blast a way into an adjacent cave.
Be the GM next:

The plan is successful [no rolls; I would have ruled the same for a group of players because I hate imprisoning PCs] and the heroes and The Spring are able to push their way into a narrow, winding passageway. Unfortunately, it is one that has been created by an ankheg - and the ankheg is still there!
Be the PCs once more:
Gino and Don Pantaloni use their most fiery spells to keep the creature at bay in the tight confines of the passageway. Though the ankheg gets close enough to take a bite out of Gino, skillful javelin jabbing by Orsini keeps the creature from getting its mandibles back into the druid. Throughout the fight, The Spring clasps on to Don Pantaloni's leg for dear life, much to the elf's chagrin. The heroes proceed through the passage.
8. Where does the final showdown between the heroes and the enemy take place in relation to the results of Q7?
Be the GM first:

Encounter: enemy nears completion of its goals
Place: Orc Hills Cavern, Northern Wilds, a few minutes later
The passageway lets out just above a cave opening wherein several male orcs - mostly the ones who had caused the cave-in that had trapped the group - are choosing their new chief. The Spring tells Don Pantaloni that the orc being chosen is the one that wanted to attack a nearby human town - obviously Avanti - instead of taking over the ape territory in the caves, but the previous chief hadn't listened to him because The Spring's visions dictated that the orcs settle here.
Be the PCs next:
The choice was clear. Though the group, save Liliana, was quite battered and almost out of spells, the heroes had to engage the brutes. After a Flaming Sphere, Scorching Rays, arrows, and Orsini's sword were finished, the orcs and their new chief were no more.
Be the GM once more:
The Spring seems extra happy to see his own kind felled. To Don Pantaloni, he says, "It happened just like Gruumsh said it would..."
9. Where does the world stand after the results of Q7 and Q8?
Be the GM first:

Though inadvertently, Avanti has been successfully defended from any orc attacks. What few remain will not be able to survive on their own, especially with the carnivorous apes that will soon be stalking them.
Be the PCs next:
• Orsini definitely wants to know how the Sea Claws came to be zombies, and The Spring will be accommodating to that end by agreeing to lead the party to the place where his chief stole them from the Five Dancing Demon Kings. This will give me the chance to try out the 1-day turns of the new exploration rules.
• I have no clue who the Five Dancing Demon Kings are....
